(Bedford, KY) – A Trimble County teenager has been killed and two others injured in a crash on Hwy. 421 South. Kentucky State Police dispatchers received a call of a single vehicle crash at 11:22 p.m. last night (6/18). Upon arrival, Troopers located the vehicle off the roadway against a tree. Preliminary investigation shows that the car, driven by 16 year old Mark Bastin of New Castle, was traveling north on Hwy. 421 when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree. Bastin was flown by Air Methods to the University of Louisville Hospital where he is in critical condition. A passenger in the vehicle, 15 year old Darian Davidson of Bedford, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 17 year old Justin Russell of Smithfield, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Everyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
Trooper Dusty Corbin, an accident reconstructionist, is leading the ongoing investigation. Trooper Corbin was assisted at the scene by the Trimble County Sheriff’s Department, Trimble County EMS, Bedford Fire and Rescue, Milton Fire and Rescue, and the Trimble County Coroner.
